type='text'>MEETING MINUTES -- January 5, 2012

15 members were present at the meeting.

Stan Bormann was the SIG Coordinator this month. He presented a discussion on tips and techniques on using the Development Module. This was based on the Lightroom 3 Seminar presented by Matt Kloskowski that Stan recently attended. The exercise was excellent. Stan used a photo he took in Vegas and went through the various tools and settings in the Development Module and showed how each one affected the photo's appearance. There were a lot of questions and suggestions from the members as we went through the steps. Stan was able to field most of the questions and in the process I'm sure he learned a few extra things himself. For those of you who didn't get a copy of Stan's notes, <a SIG Coordinator for the February 2 meeting. Ray is planning on showing how he uses Lightroom as part of his process for Restoring Photos. This will also include some reference to further processing in Photoshop (CS and Elements). All members should also think of items they would like to share at the meetings.

Bill Graczyk
Lightroom type='text'>MEETING MINUTES -- December 1, 2011

13 members were present for the meeting.

We reviewed the new Lightroom SIG Blog and discussed the tabs and their contents.

We need to have a Monthly Coordinator for each of the SIG meetings or the meeting will be cancelled for that month. Shirley Bormann volunteered for April. We still do not have a Coordinator for the January meeting.

We watched the training videos and discussed in more detail, segments from the following chapters at lynda.com "Lightroom 3 Essential Training" by Chris Orwig:

Chapter 13 on Snapshot History and Virtual Copies

Chapter 15 on Cropping an Image

Chapter 16 on Retouching with Spot Removal

Chapter 17 on Graduated Filters

Chapter 18 on Adjustment Brush Overview

Future meetings could use the lynda.com training videos or other videos from Adobe TV -- a number of these are included in tab 2 of our blog.

MEETING MINUTES -- November 3, 2011

This is the first entry in our new SIG blog.

Stan Bormann presented a report on the "Lightroom 3 Kelby Training" seminar given by Matt Kloskowsky that he and several of our members attended in Phoenix recently. We did some discussion on the Import tips that were given at the seminar.

To go along with the above subject, we reviewed several sections in the lynda.com tutorial titled "Organizing and Archiving Digital Photos" by Derrick Story. The sections were "Understanding Digital Asset Managers" and "Transferring Images With Lightroom". Using the tutorial along with our discussions was a good way to gain more understanding about what Lightroom does and how to best use the Import function. It was very insightful to make sure that all the boxes in the right hand column are consistent with how you want your folders, subfolder, and images identified. Just leaving them as default could yield some unpleasant surprises once they are imported.

A discussion was held on selecting a SIG facilitator for the coming year. The request for a volunteer was followed by total silence. We need to figure out how this will be handled.

After the meeting, Jerry Weinstein sent me a link to a very good training video by Matt Kloskowsky titled Lightroom 3 Crash Course http://tv.adobe.com/watch/max-2011-design/lightroom-3-crash-course/ The video lasts about one hour.

<img width='1' height='1'
